Speak Your Truth in 10 Seconds: Day 5 Shame-Breaking Challenge

In this Day 5 challenge of the Unashamed Project, I guide you through the transformative practice of speaking your truth out loud in just 10 seconds. This exercise is designed to help you reclaim your voice and take tangible action toward breaking free from shame.

After days of internal work—naming what you’re no longer ashamed of, uncovering hidden shame, and returning shame that was never yours—it’s time to move from reflection into vocal action.

In my video, I explain why this simple but powerful step matters so deeply.

Why Speaking Your Truth Matters

In my video, I emphasize that transformation doesn’t happen just in the mind—it happens in the voice. When you speak something out loud, a profound shift occurs. It’s not just about the words themselves; your entire body changes. Your nervous system begins to relax, your heart opens, and you start to feel a tangible sense of release.

I describe voice as medicine that heals from within. When you speak your shame out loud, you literally take its power away. Shame thrives in silence and secrecy. It grows stronger when we keep it hidden inside, replaying the same stories in our minds without ever letting them see the light of day. But the moment you give voice to what you’ve been holding, shame begins to lose its grip.

The Practice of Speaking: Small Steps, Big Impact

This is why today’s challenge focuses on practice. You don’t have to reveal your deepest, most vulnerable story right away. This exercise is not about exposure for the sake of exposure—it’s about building the muscle of speaking truth. It’s about taking small, manageable steps that honor where you are right now.

Your 10-second truth could be as simple as: “I was ashamed of my body for many years, but not anymore.” Or it might be: “I feel lonely sometimes even when I’m surrounded by people.” Perhaps it’s: “I was told not to dream too big, but I do it anyway.” The specific content of your truth doesn’t matter as much as the act of speaking it does.

My Own Story of Speaking Truth

I share my personal experience in the video because I want you to know that you’re not alone in feeling afraid. The first time I spoke my truth, my voice was shaking. I felt like everyone could hear my fear, like it was written all over me. But afterward, I realized something profound: even with a shaky voice, my voice was still powerful.

This is something I want you to hold onto. You don’t need to be fearless to speak. You just need to be willing. Trembling is still speaking, and speaking is still courage. Your voice doesn’t have to be steady or confident or polished to be valid and powerful. The simple act of using it—regardless of how it sounds—is what creates change.

Today’s Challenge: Your 10-Second Truth

For the Day 5 challenge, I’m asking you to speak one 10-second truth. You have options for how to do this, depending on what feels most accessible to you right now. You can record a short audio message or video and share it in the Skool community. Or, if speaking feels too vulnerable today, you can write your truth as one bold sentence.

Keep it simple. Keep it real. There’s no need for elaborate explanations or perfect phrasing. Just speak or write what’s true for you in this moment. Then, end with our daily ritual phrase: “I am unashamed of…” This simple declaration acts as an anchor, reminding you that you are actively choosing to release shame with each truth you speak.

Your First Brave Step Into Visibility

This exercise represents your first brave step into visibility. It’s not about being perfect or polished—it’s about being true. In my video, I emphasize that courage doesn’t come all at once. It comes truth by truth, step by step. Today, you’re building the muscle that will support you in every future act of speaking up, showing up, and living authentically.

This is a step that your younger self never could have taken. That version of you was still carrying the full weight of shame, still believing that silence was safer than speaking. But you’ve done the work to get here. You’ve examined your shame, understood where it came from, and begun the process of returning it to where it belongs—outside of you.

The Freedom That Comes From Using Your Voice

When you complete this exercise, you’ll begin to feel something that may be unfamiliar at first: the freedom of your voice. This freedom isn’t loud or dramatic necessarily. Sometimes it’s quiet and subtle. It might feel like a small opening in your chest, a slight ease in your breathing, or a gentle sense that you’ve reclaimed something that always belonged to you.

I encourage you to join the Skool community where women from around the world are participating in this challenge together. There’s something powerful about witnessing each other’s truths and being witnessed in return. You’ll find that you’re not alone in your struggles, and that sharing your story helps others find their own courage.

You can also connect with me on Instagram or Facebook to continue this journey together. I’m committed to witnessing your brave truths and supporting you as you rise unashamed.

Building Your Courage Muscle

In my video, I make it clear that this challenge isn’t a one-time event. It’s part of a larger practice of building your courage muscle. Each time you speak a truth—no matter how small—you’re strengthening your capacity to live more authentically. You’re proving to yourself that you can handle the vulnerability that comes with being seen and heard.

The 10-second truth is deliberately short because I want you to succeed. It’s designed to be achievable, not overwhelming. But don’t mistake its brevity for lack of power. Some of the most transformative moments in life happen in just a few seconds: the moment you decide to change, the moment you speak up, the moment you choose yourself over the comfort of hiding.

I cannot wait to witness your brave truth. When you share in the community, know that I’m there celebrating every single act of courage, no matter how small it might seem to you. Together, we rise unashamed. This is how we reclaim our voices, our stories, and our power—one 10-second truth at a time.
